Times Online Reporter:
Intense debate has started in the capital-state Delhi over the need to take any action against Corona. The state government of the Aam Aadmi Party on one side of the dispute, the central government on the other. In this conflict the common man has had to fall into a state of utter confusion. In the meantime, Delhi has overtaken Tamil Nadu to become number two in terms of infection. Maharashtra ranks number one in the list of infections. The central and state governments have decided that corona samples will be tested on every member of every household in the capital-state by July 8. The examination of the residents of the containment areas of the state will be completed this month. The central government recently intervened as the infection in Delhi became rampant. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had several meetings with state Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The central and state governments also took several decisions simultaneously on how to deal with the infection properly.Amit Shah said the number of sample tests in the capital-state will be increased to 16,000 daily. The state government also reduced the cost of sample testing in private labs from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,200. He decided to temporarily convert the private hotel and banquet halls into coveted centers. Thus, an additional 20,000 beds have been earmarked for corona sufferers. But then the disaster began.Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal recently issued a directive saying all corona sufferers must stay in the quarantine center for five days. As soon as the directive was issued, Chief Minister Kejriwal objected. He added that 90,000 beds are needed in Delhi at the moment to comply with the directive, which is impossible to procure. The lieutenant governor withdrew the order after strong objections from the chief minister. But Amit Shah's order prevented the dispute.
Instead of following the lieutenant governor's directive, the home minister said on Tuesday that the person concerned would have to go to the Covid Center as soon as the corona infection was detected in the test. There the doctors will examine the patient, whether he has to stay in the quarantine center or can be treated at home. The Delhi government immediately opposed the directive.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote a letter to Amit Shah rejecting the order. He said that two models can be seen in Delhi. One is Amit Shah's model, the other is Kejriwal's government. But it is not a fight for dominance of any model. At his request, the Home Minister should withdraw his order in the interest of dealing with patients and diseases.
Because, Delhi does not have as many ambulances as everyone needs to go to Kovid Center. There will be hustle and bustle in the center of Kovid. In the interest of the people, therefore, this instruction should be lifted.
According to Kejriwal's model, once the infection is detected, the state government will visit the patient's home to see if there is a separate treatment facility at home. There is no need to go to the quarantine center if there is an opportunity. The chief minister tweeted on Wednesday that many people were recovering at home.
In the last 24 hours, about 4,000 people have been newly infected in Delhi. After Tamil Nadu (74,603), Delhi (6,602) moved to the second position. Maharashtra tops the list. The number of victims is 1 lakh 39 thousand. More than 15,000 people are being infected in the country every day. Mortality in Delhi is also rising rapidly. 2,301 people died. Gujarat is third in terms of deaths. 1 thousand 610. Infection in Modi's state is about 26,000.
