Scientists in Milan and Turin, Italy, have tested the sewage water.Researchers at Italy's National Institutes of Health (ISS) have discovered a new coronavirus in a December 16 sewage sample in Milan and Turin, the BBC reported.
They came to this conclusion after testing 40 samples from wastewater treatment plants in several northern Italian cities from October last year to February this year.
Giuseppe La Rosa, an ISS expert, said the virus was not found in the October and November samples. This means that the virus has not yet reached Italy. The virus was detected in the January waters of the Bologna sewer.
