Times Online Reporter:
A Brazilian court has ordered President Jair Bolsonaro to wear a protective mask when visiting public places in and around the capital. This information was reported in the BBC report.
Earlier, Bolsonaro was sharply criticized for downplaying the risk of a coronavirus epidemic. Although corona outbreaks have reached alarming levels around the world, President Bolsonaro dismissed the outbreak as a common cold.
Despite the dangerous situation in the country, President Bolsonaro has repeatedly appeared in public without a mask. His supporters are crowding there to greet him.
Federal Justice Renato Borelli has now ruled that President Bolsonaro will not be spared the fine.
According to the judge's order, if the president and any other government official ignores that provision, he will have to pay a fine of the same amount.
